I’ll be making a modular wireless charging platform. I’m disappointed at the current solutions for charging docks, and I’d like a way to modularly swap out pieces to mount any phone on any surface.

There will be one modular for each interface

Since each part is interchangeable, the system will be extensible for any person who wants to design their own.

Whether mounted on a wall, a dashboard, or sitting on a desk, this should give a wide variability of phone interfaces and electronics compatibilities.

Aesthetics

I’m looking to have a more postmodern approach to this object. Since wireless charging evokes a feeling of futurism, I hope to draw on some aesthetic elements that communicate that experience with the user.

Since the result will be modular, I will have a platform for many possible aesthetics, but I think an aesthetic that will communicate these values is one borrowed from speculative futuristic machinery. It has charming semiotics, a feeling of durability, and a celebration of fastening methods. Tinkering’s screwdriver holder is a good example of how this aesthetic can convey a feeling of advanced usability.

I hope to use this celebration of fasteners and semiotics to give the same effect to my design.
